AAPL now accounts for a full 7% of the total value of the S&P 500, an influential index of 500 large companies. It follows the company reaching a $2 trillion market cap back in August. The S&P gained nearly 8% this year despite the coronavirus crisis thanks in large part to tech companies seeing increased demand for their products as more people work from home and seek home-based entertainment....

Bill Macy, best known for his role on the sitcom Maude, has passed away at the age of 97. Born Wolf Garber on May 18, 1922, to Michael and Mollie Garber in Revere Massachusetts, Macy worked as a taxi driver before starting a formidable career in show business. Macy received a stepping stone into the industry when he was cast on Broadway as an understudy for Walter Matthau in the 1985 production of Once More, With Feeling....

Adobe stock climbed 10 percent to just under $60 in opening trading after announcing Q4 earnings in line with expectations, and strong growth in subscriptions as the company transitions away from one-time purchase licences. While year-on-year numbers were poor, revenue down almost 10 percent and earnings almost halved, Adobe has been at pains to point out this was expected as it shifted to subscription-based sales. India’s telecom regulator, TRAI, earlier this year threatened to ban iPhones in the country if Apple didn’t approve a government-developed Do Not Disturb app by January of 2019. According to an Apple spokesperson in India (via VentureBeat), Apple has approved such an app and it is now available as of today on the App Store. Named TRAI DND – Do Not Disturb, the app attempts to help Indian customers avoid unwanted phone calls and text messages, which has been an issue for a while within the country....

To generate intelligent responses Google will require access to your SMS history. You can turn it off easily. In October, Taiwanese company Proview Electronics accused Apple of trademark infringement regarding the “iPad” moniker, with the company’s chairman promising to sue Apple for damages in both the US and China. Apple quietly purchased the global rights to the trademark, but also launched a lawsuit to gain the rights in China, which weren’t included in the agreement. Shenzhen-based Intermediate People’s Court today rejected Apple’s lawsuit to gain ownership over the Chinese trademark, according to a report from Reuters....
