A day after Apple testified before the House Judiciary Committee, a handful of privacy groups have officially filed that they support the company in its fight against the FBI. While the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has previsouly expressed its support for Apple, it today filed an amicus brief with the court, officially acknowledging its stance. Furthermore, three other privacy groups, Access Now, the Wickr Foundation, and a United Nations free speech group have also filed briefs with the court echoing the ACLU’s sentiments....

Adobe today announced an update to Adobe Capture CC—its iOS app that lets users capture and edit images for use in its other editing apps. The update brings a new Patterns feature that the company says “transforms any image or real-world object into a geometric or organic pattern.” And you can see in the screenshots above how the patterns feature works from with the Capture CC app on iPhone. After taking a photo, the feature allows you to select a portion of the photo to use and then automatically generates a pattern for you to preview....

A report a few weeks ago suggested that Apple Pay would be launching in Belgium this month, initially for customers of BNP Paribas Fortis. We’re today seeing more evidence than the launch may be imminent … Mac4ever has seen a letter from supermarket chain ALDI to its employees, explaining how Apple Pay works. The letter, which takes a newsletter format, is issued for the period November 26 to December 2, but doesn’t specifically give a launch date for Apple Pay....

We’ve covered Algoriddim’s djay for iOS, the popular all-in-one DJ system software, in the past including the debut of djay 2, and today djay is out with a major new feature that unlocks over 20 million songs: Spotify integration. The company reported a loss per share of $0.10 for the quarter on revenue of $132.9 million. For the full fiscal year, Mandiant said it had a revenue of $483 million, representing a 21% increase year over year. It also reported a non-GAAP net loss per share of 51 cents Wall Street was expecting a Q4 loss of $0.13 per share on revenue of $131.57 million. The report sent Mandiant’s shares down 2% in late trading....

Flynx for Android Flynx, a free Android app, allows you to click on a link (from any app) and it will load in the background, letting you stay within the app. Like in the example below I am using Twitter…one where Flynx is incredibly handy. Upon downloading, you’ll be asked which program you want to use to open links. Select Flynx from the list. Once Flynx becomes your default link opener, a floating icon appears only when you click a link....

Apple has created a new screensaver for the fourth-gen Apple TV that consists of a collection of videos taken all over the world. While it’s possible to locate these screensaver videos online and download them from Apple’s website, there hasn’t been a way to set them as your Mac’s screensaver. Thanks to developer John Coates, that’s not the case anymore. Coates published a Mac screensaver this week that lets you choose to run any of these videos when your Mac has been idle....
