With the AAPL Q1 earnings call scheduled for later today, the majority of analysts expect Apple to slightly beat the $84B fiscal Q1 revenue the company forecast in its revised guidance. The most pessimistic analyst roundup has Apple coming in at exactly $84B, while others expect more, with the highest average expectation at $85.33B … PED 3.0 has the results of four analyst surveys. The numbers in brackets are the number of estimates included within each average....

Analysis by Above Avalon‘s Neil Cybart suggests that Apple is unlikely to accelerate the pace of its stock buyback program as it is already spending almost all of its available US cash stockpile on share dividends and buybacks. Cybart does some number-crunching to suggest that Apple is likely to buy back around $30B worth of stock next year, though acknowledges that new product lines like the Apple Watch make it difficult to forecast future profits with any certainty....

Acorn 4 brings new non-destructive filters, multiple layer selection, new shape tools such as “Stars, Arrows, and a Bezier anchor,” and a revamped UI with the tools palette in a separate window. American Express has published a new web page explaining the benefits of Apple Pay to cardholders and providing directions on how to setup the payment system, which won’t actually be available until next week. The page also points out that American Express cardholders will be able to get the same rewards and other perks that usually come with a credit card when using the card through Apple Pay. The page says that customers will have a “seamless connection” to the American Express app and lists a few stores where NFC payments will be accepted....
