A new fan-made trailer for a film called Ahsoka: A Star Wars Story has been released online. Disney has been busy the past few years with the Star Wars sequel trilogy, but they also tried their hand at spin-off films subtitled A Star Wars Story. Disney released two of these films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Solo: A Star Wars Story, but after the disappointing turnout for the latter, Disney canceled plans for future Star Wars spin-offs.
While Han Solo has been the only pre-established character to get a solo film, fans have been wanting to see more of another fan-favorite character: Ahsoka Tano. Ahsoka was first introduced in the animated movie Star Wars: The Clone Wars, before becoming a main character in the animated series of the same name. Tano then appeared as a recurring character in the series Star Wars Rebels and is also set to return for the seventh season of The Clone Wars. With the popularity of Ahsoka, she seems to be a prime candidate for a solo film, which one fan brought to life with a trailer.
A new fan-made trailer from Tim Gonzales imagines what Ahsoka: A Star Wars Story could look like. Instead of making the trailer live-action like the previous two Star Wars stories, this YouTuber went the animated route by pulling clips from Ahsoka’s scenes in Star Wars Rebels. Gonzales’ trailer can be seen below:
While there haven’t been any talks of an Ahsoka movie, there are several Star Wars shows coming to Disney’s new streaming service called Disney+. The first to be announced was The Mandalorian, which will be available when the streaming service goes live on November 12th. Rogue One is also getting a prequel series that will focus on Diego Luna’s character Cassian Andor. Last but not least, it was finally confirmed at this year’s D23 fan event that Ewan McGregor will return as Obi-Wan Kenobi for a new series taking place 8 years after Revenge of the Sith.
Ahsoka has never been included in a live-action Star Wars movie before, but fans have gotten to see what a live-action Togruta looks like thanks to Shaak Ti from the prequel trilogy. With the number of shows that are coming to Disney+, it’s possible that Ahsoka could appear in a live-action series, especially since The Clone Wars’ creator has teased the possibility of a live-action Ahsoka Tano. Even if Ahsoka doesn’t appear in a live-action series, fans would likely love to see the first animated Star Wars story revolve around Ahsoka.
