Zelda Williams has tried out the Disney character roulette filter on Instagram and as luck would have it, she ended up with one of her father’s most iconic characters: Genie from Aladdin. Zelda Williams is the daughter of the late Robin Williams, who voiced the Genie from Disney’s 1992 animated version of Aladdin. Zelda Williams, as well as countless fans who grew up with her father’s work, were rocked in 2014 with the news that Robin Williams died by suicide following a battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Since then, Zelda, who has followed in her father’s footsteps to become an actress, has honored his memory by talking about his depression and disease. She’s also shared his love of video games, especially the Legend Of Zelda series, from which she got her name. In addition to starring in films like The Frankenstein Brothers, Were the World Mine and Never, she’s also made appearances on shows like Teen Wolf and Criminal Minds, lent her voice to animated roles like the earthbender extremist Kuvira in The Legend of Korra and an updated version of Mona Lisa in the 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, and even took a turn in the director’s chair for the 2018 short film Shrimp. Still, she continues to remember her father on social media, now by posting a video of her using a new Instagram filter.

On her Twitter, Zelda Williams posted a video of herself using the Disney-based filter, which generates a picture of a character that closely resembles the user at random. She broke into laughter when the image landed on her father’s iconic Genie from Aladdin. You can check out the tweet below:

Created by digital photographer Arno Partissimo, the free Instagram filter has taken the internet by storm, with many other celebrities and fans looking to see which character they end up with - to amusing effect. After Williams’ result came in, fans flooded her account with support for her and her late father, including GIFs of the Genie himself.

Random or not, it’s fitting and quite touching that Williams was matched with one of her father’s most famous roles. Robin Williams left a considerable impact on many fans through his comedic and inspirational works such as Mrs. Doubtfire, Mork and Mindy and even the Genie himself in Disney’s Aladdin. While he may be gone, his memory still lives on in the roles he embodied in his life, and through the work of his daughter Zelda Williams.
