There’s news in the Adobe world today with feature updates to XD, Illustrator CC, and InDesign CC out now. Adobe XD now lets designers easily work with Photoshop and Sketch assets and design files, and both Illustrator and InDesign have been refreshed. Adobe XD has always complemented Photoshop by letting designers create prototypes for demonstration, and now Adobe XD supports opening Photoshop and Sketch files. Twitter has made its first ever profit, almost twelve years after the launch of the company. It reported profit of $91M on revenues of $732M in Q4 2017, in contrast to a loss of $167M in the same quarter the previous year … Re/code reports that revenue was also ahead of Wall Street expectations of $686M. There was what seems on the surface to be bad news: the user base didn’t grow at all during the quarter, while analysts had expected it to be up by a million....

Tim Cook, who is currently in Beijing, is headed on to India tomorrow, reports Reuters. Sources say that he is due to meet with Prime Minister Modi, who he last met in September back in the US (above). Developer Abhishek Singh is certainly having fun with ARKit at present. Remedy Games recently revealed that it had plans to create a sequel to Alan Wake, but it just didn’t work out for the studio. The initial Alan Wake game released on the Xbox 360 in 2010. AMC has ordered the meta comedy Kevin Can F— Himself to series. While the network is known for dramas like The Walking Dead, it often blends humor into the most serious of situations. In the case of Kevin Can F— Himself, the series plans to take a well-known sitcom trope and examine it far more cleverly. Apple’s new retail chief Angela Ahrendts has written a blog post on LinkedIn sharing some of the insight she has gathered while making the transition from Burberry to to the Cupertino company. Ant-Man & the Wasp was the MCU’s biggest missed opportunity. It looks like Apple is continuing to impose restrictions on their devices that limit both content publishers and consumers. Unlike many other ebook readers using the ePub file format, consumers will not be able to access ePub content with Apple’s DRM technology on devices made by other manufacturers. And without Flash support, iPad users will not be able to access the full range of web content, including over 70% of games and 75% of video on the web....

The US Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on antitrust is holding a hearing today over competition concerns about Apple and Google. Just ahead of the hearing, Senator Klobuchar who chairs the subcommittee has said that Apple’s launch of its new AirTag item tracker is “timely” and that she believes both companies’ app stores need more scrutiny. Just after Apple officially debuted its AirTags yesterday at its Spring Loaded event, Tile’s CEO put out a statement saying the company doesn’t trust Apple to play fair and that it would like to see the antirust subcommittee launch a probe into AirTags specifically....
